BU Catapult Challenge

Boston University ENG runs a yearly catapult challenge in which students are tasked with building a catapult out of 2"x4", screws, and springs. The ultimate goal is to launch a golf ball as far as possible.

In preparation for the weekend long event, I made a rough model in SolidWorks of all the components and how they should be assembled. In the machine shop, my partner and I cut and milled the wood, bolted everything together, and test fired. After a few modifications, our final result was more of a ballista than a catapult, but it did acheive a max range of 70 ft and won us 3rd place.
